The Letters Course - English Language aims at training critical linguistic educators, involved with the production and socialization of linguistic-discursive and literary knowledge, and with professional performance permeated by ethical-political commitment in the face of demands arising from social transformations, cultural and political aspects of Brazil and the current world and their repercussions in the regional context. The profile of graduates with a degree in English is based on the National Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Courses in Literature, which establish that the objective of the Language Course is to train interculturally competent professionals, capable of dealing critically with languages, in a way integrated, within a conception of teaching work that does not dissociate knowing and doing, indispensable skills for a critical and dialogic pedagogical action.
